Light Weight Concrete Roof

Lightweight insulated concrete also known as lwic is a material intended for use as an insulation and substrate for support and attachment of roofing membranes on slope roofs.

With structural lightweight concrete a mix of shale slate slag and clay are used and with this mix the aggregate is fully saturated prior to mixing. It provides a very effective and efficient method of insulating the concrete base from intense heat and for creating drainage slopes screeds which facilitate quick surface water runoff as well as eliminate any chances of ponding or stagnation. Lightweight concrete used in roof deck construction typically consists of portland cement foam water and admixtures. Lightweight insulating concrete includes the application of expanded polystyrene eps insulation boards.

Profiles are a fraction of the weight of our conventional roof tiles and are perfect for re roof projects. Ballast paver is the easiest lightweight concrete paver to install and is designed to interlock with one another forming a ballast system that effectively secures single ply roofing membranes. Roof systems lightweight concrete and screeds allows architects and building contractors greater versatility in design and performance of a flat concrete roof or deck. The end result of the structural lightweight mix is a deck that can be 20 25 lighter than standard structural concrete.
